Inside Prisons

  • Self-development

The first step starts in prison for             both men and women detainees.           The objective is for the detainees           to get to know themselves better in         order to be able to take charge of           their lives and make the right                 choices going forward.

  • First time offenders

Developed to tackle the growing             issue of recidivism by separating           first timers in prison habitual                   criminal. Offering them the proper         support and information to                     discourage them from reoffending         or adopting a pro criminal                       behaviour upon their release.

  • Pre release

From 6 months to one year prior to        release, detainees are invited to            participate in the Pre-Release                Programme.  We aim to prepare            the detainees to face all the                    challenges that await them outside;        from dealing with stigmatisation to          formulating a career plan.

  • Individual counselling

A team of counsellors and                       psychotherapist provide individual         counselling to detainees, ex                   detainees, families and juveniles. It         is a process through which clients         work one-on-one with the                       counsellors in a safe, caring, and           confidential environment.

  • Drop in centre

Established since 2005, the Drop in        Centre has as objective to welcome        ex-detainees after their release from        prison to further assist them in the            rehabilitation and reintegration                process. A wide range of services          are provided to clients with the help        of dedicated staff. The Drop in                Centre operates only on weekdays          as from 8hr30 to 16hr00.

  •  Psychological and social support

The clients have a holistic follow-up         by the social workers. It helps                 individuals to heal the                               psychological wounds and rebuild           social structures after prison. The           clients are provided with social and         moral support to cope with life after         prison such as housing support,             educational support, emergency             food support, etc.

  • Referral for other services

As a NGO there is so much that               can be done. The clients are                   referred to other NGOs or                         instances when needed.

  • Job search

One of the most important aspect of       reintegration is to have a stable job.         The clients are referred to jobs that         they can do. A follow-up is done to         ensure that the clients are being             diligent in their jobs.
